Standing at the Threshold

To the Spearheads,

Do you ever have an awakening moment with the Lord that leaves you bright red in the face? Like, oh yeah, I should have known that. It seems so simple when He illuminates something to you that you should have had right from the start. I do love His grace and His mercy.

I feel it’s been a couple of years of me trying to figure out what God is going to do in my life, where He’s leading me, the family, and our future. I love clarity, I really struggle without it, which sometimes makes the tension of waiting seasons so much harder with God, because let’s be honest, He’s not always forthcoming with updates and next steps, is He?

The last 18 months have personally been a strange mix of attack, testing, trials, unexpected blessings, and new desires and dreams being revealed, all in one, but it’s felt like there’s been this one missing piece of the puzzle. I can sense the new, I can sense the crossing over into a new season… but Lord, when is it happening? What do I need to do? What step do I need to take? Where are the witnesses?

Recently, the Lord hit me with — you’re standing at the door of the threshold, I’m waiting for you to cross over. You have passed every trial, every test, been found faithful, but now I’m waiting for you to enter into My presence in a new way.

I firmly believe this is a crossing-over of the threshold season for many. A new era, new seasons, new gifts, graces and a shift in what you have always known. This is a promised land moment — but do not miss the importance of the threshold itself.

Many, like I had done, have come to the threshold in this season but stood at the doorway waiting for the crossing over to come out to them. Waiting for the business deal to come out, the increase, the promise, the new direction or relationships they seek. “GIVE ME A SIGN LORD!”

The threshold in the Old Testament was the bottom sill of the doorway, the door that separated the common from the holy, guarded by the priesthood, who alone came in and went out.

Now in the New Testament Jesus takes this upon himself. He says, “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9, NASB1995).

I hear the Lord saying to many right now, who are in the waiting, before the clarity, before the new, before the increase for this new season there must be a crossing over into what is holy before what is common can be changed.

Cross into a new level of intimacy in the holy place, for Jesus is our High Priest, our gate and gatekeeper.
It is only once we have crossed into a greater desire for His presence that He can get a hold of us in a new way and send us out to find pasture, with greater wisdom, power, discernment and blessing for our assignments.

Isaiah found repentance at the shaking of the threshold before he was sent (Isaiah 6:4–8, NASB1995). The disciples waited in prayer before the place was shaken and they were filled with power to act (Acts 4:31, NASB1995).

It was when the crossed from the common (everyday life, distractions, busyness), into the holy (prayer, devotion, fasting, community, prophetic, repentance) that the Lord made their steps clear.

Do not be caught waiting at the threshold. You must cross first.

As James puts it so simply,
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” – James 4:8

This week – spearhead a greater desire for intimacy in the holy place with Christ.

It’s time to rise.
Be the Spearhead.

Yours faithfully,
