To the Spearheads,
I’m sitting in Sydney International Airport, walking laps to keep my legs moving before a long-haul flight to Dallas. Praying as I walk, my heart filled with worship. I don’t want my legs to seize up beneath me. And as I walk, I can’t help but think about my walk with God — my walk into everything He has waiting for me. The need to keep moving spiritually and to not seize up there also.
It has felt like such a season of delay. And delay, left unchecked, turns to paralysis, in our hearts, our joy, and even our steps of faith.
I’ve been sitting on a word for what feels like weeks now. Time to release it!
I hear the Lord saying:
ASK your way out of PARALYSIS.
Through long seasons of transition, testing, and trial, we can hold onto hope for so long that if we stop moving, that hope turns to numbness. Eyes once fixed on the horizon start dropping down to our feet.
There is a great and mighty plan for you, says the Lord — one to give you a hope and a future, not to harm you but to prosper you. If only My people would keep asking of Me. Keep inquiring of Me.
One thing I admire of David was his constant asking, inquiring of the Lord. He kept taking ground. He kept moving — even in the long wait between his anointing and his kingship, he was moving. One particular example jumped out to me in scripture;
“So David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go and attack these Philistines?’ And the Lord said to David, ‘Go and attack the Philistines and deliver Keilah.’ Then David inquired of the Lord once more. And the Lord answered him and said, ‘Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand.’” (1 Samuel 23:2, 4, NASB1995)
Some of David’s men weren’t confident in the word the Lord had given him. So David inquired again — and the Lord answered in a way that brought not just confidence, but a resurrection spirit: “Arise, go!”
In Hebrew, arise is qum (קום) — not just “stand up,” but a rousing, a stirring of what has gone dormant back into motion. A resurrection word. It’s the same word the Lord speaks through Isaiah: “Your dead will live; their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy.” — Isaiah 26:19 (NASB1995)
The same resurrection life runs through both. The Lord rousing and raising what has been sleeping. Calling it up, out of the dust, and back to life.
I can’t shake this: God needs us to keep ASKING, keep INQUIRING. Because in the waiting, in the shift, a spirit that keeps asking of the Lord will be answered — and His word will fill it with a resurrection spirit, one that brings it out of the paralysis that’s held it in the status quo, in the numbness, in the hopelessness, in the delay.
Saul lost his kingship because he stopped inquiring of the Lord. He got impatient, did it his own way, then tried to spin it as being for the Lord. A king who stops inquiring of the King of kings will lose the anointing, and someone else will rise with it.
Saul’s own name means “asked for.” And yet the man whose entire identity was built on asking, stopped asking. He failed to live up to the very name God gave him. So the anointing went to a man after God’s own heart. A man of inquiry.
When confusion creeps in, when impatience tempts you, when numbness to the promise sets in because of the delay — ASK. INQUIRE. And be filled with fresh resurrection life for the days ahead.
Come out of paralysis in your spirit. Come out of paralysis in your calling. Rise out of the dust, and seek the Lord who directs your steps.
This is a season of abundance, of blessing. Don’t be caught missing an open heaven because you’re too paralysed by a past season. Some of you have stopped asking of the Lord, stopped inquiring about your next step and your spirit is sitting on the couch numb in the waiting. Get on your knees! Inquire of the Lord and let the resurrection power of His word lift you back to life!
If you need finance, ASK.
If you need direction, ASK.
If you need healing, ASK.
If you need wisdom, ASK.
May the answers and the word of the Lord break the paralysis that has held you in contempt for too long.
It is a season to move forward!
It’s time to rise. Be the Spearhead.
Your’s faithfully,
Shannon.
